Why did people Risk Everything to migrate to the new world

They were promised land in the New World. Land was what made them wealthy and it promised them political say and many other things that they did not have in England (I’m guessing we’re talking about the British here).
Many people also left to the New World to have more freedoms. In the New World they were not governed by the king 24/7.
