Amelia is studying Spanish in school. Her teacher explains to her that there are two different ways to address a person when you speak Spanish. If it is your friend, you might use the term, “Tu” but if it is someone you don’t know well or an authority figure, you use “Usted.” Although Amelia’s teacher is originally from Bolivia, she says that this applies universally in Spanish culture.
