Draw a ray optics diagram, except now replace the magnifying glass with your human eye lens, and replace the leaf with your retina that rests at the back of your eyeball. Once again, label s, s’, and f with symbols.

Given that the distance between the eye’s lens and the retina is around 2cm, relabel s, s’, and f with their exact distances. (Note: you can automatically know the focal length (converging strength) of your human eye when you look at something far away, because you can approximate the object distance as infinitely far away.)

Explain why we need a lens in our human eye in order to focus light from an object onto our retina. (ie: an invertebrate with photoreceptors but no lens would see a brighter spot where the light is, but would not be able to focus the edges of the panels and rectangular shape of the light holder.)

Researchers determine that the biodiversity in a woodland region is declining. they identify two major threats to the region's biodiversity, a method to address each threat, and the expected outcome of each method. this information is shown in the table. a) reforestation would not benefit many species because most forest species live on the ground. b) reforestation would take the longest time to be effective because trees take several years to grow. c) biological augmentation would benefit only a few species because is is typically not very effective. d) biological augmentation would take less time to ve effective because it targets the majority of prey species.

Acommercial refrigerator with refrigerant-134a as the working fluid is used to keep the refrigerated space at -35°c by rejecting waste heat to cooling water that enters the condenser at 18°c at a rate of 0.25 kg/s and leaves at 26°c. the refrigerant enters the condenser at 1.2 mpa and 50°c. if the compressor consumes 3.3 kw of power, determine (a) the mass flow rate of the refrigerant, (b) the refrigeration load, (c) the cop, and (d) the minimum power input to the compressor for the same refrigeration load.
