I have a query related to completing square method lets say the question is
2x² + 3x + 2
and then 2x² + 3x + (3/2)² + 2 - (3/2)²

and what im doing is (2x + 3/2)² + 2 - 9/4

but im wondering as the identity is
(a+b)² = (a)² + 2(a)(b) + (b)²

so wouldn't that make it
((√2)x + 3/2)² + 2 - 9/4
as we are squaring the whole value of a in the identity
