Explain how the constitution's commerce clause has african american obtain equal rights

The Commerce Clause was cited in the Civil Rights cases to finally bring down the Jim Crow Laws that were prevalent in the South. The Commerce clause dealt with all trade that crossed federal and state lines. Any business that participated in this type of trading was subject to federal laws. Only if a business used things that only came from within the state could they get around federal laws. The commerce clause allowed the NAACP and other organizations to go after various hotels, restaurants, and other businesses for violating African Americans civil rights because all the businesses traded and various dealings with companies all over the United States and outside the country.
