ignited a war between France and Great Britain. During debate on what the
United States should do Thomas Jefferson argued that we should go to war with
the French while Hamilton urged remaining neutral . Ultimately, President
George Washington decided to release a Statement of Neutrality keeping the
United States out of the quagmire unfolding in Europe. Fast forward to today and
this debate on how involved the United States should be in foreign affairs still
