LOST PROPERTY
It happened one day aboard the Antelope that Sam, the captainâs servant , whilst emptying the captainâs silver teapot, accidentally dropped the valuable article overboard. He was terrified as to what would happen when the captain found out, so he made up his mind to make things a little easier for himself.
âSir, is a thing lost when you know where it is?â he asked the skipper.
âOf course it isnât , was the reply. âIf you know where it is, it canât be lost.â
âAre you quite sure of that, sir?â Sam asked anxiously.
âAs sure as I am that this ship is sailing the Pacific,â said the captain.
âWell, that makes me very happy indeed,â said Sam. âYour silver teapot isnât really lost, for I know where it is. Itâs at the bottom of the ocean.
