Permanent employment and temporary employment are different in terms of duration, as well as in terms of stability. People who are permanently employed in education know that their position is relatively stable. They are likely to plan their future on the assumption that they will work at their job for many years. On the other hand, those who have a temporary job in education usually work for only a certain season or period of time. They generally have more unstable jobs and often perform different jobs for a short period of time. An example of a permanent employee would be a tenured professor, and an example of a temporary one would be a basketball coach who only coaches for a season.
