The following is a set-up to determine the diffusion coefficient of a solute (A) in a liquid (B). The transfer of A is from the bottom to the top compartment. V is the volume of the compartments and they are equal, c is concentration of A, σ is the porosity of the membrane between two compartments, z is the thickness of the membrane. Derive the equation for the diffusion coefficient of A in B (DAB)
