A turbine-nozzle system is typically found in a turbojet engine. Air enters the turbine at 40 kg/s, 1060 K, 1100 kPa and exits at 940 K, 550 kPa. Exiting air then enters the nozzle and leaves at 660 K and 100 kPa. Suppose the turbine and the nozzle are well insulated and operate at steady state, kinetic energy at the nozzle inlet can be negligible, and air behaves as an ideal gas with constant specific heats. (a) Determine the air velocity at the nozzle exit (in m/s). (13 Points) (b) Determine the isentropic efficiency of the nozzle (%). (11 Points) (c) Determine the rate of entropy generation in the nozzle (in kJ/K s). (11 Points)
