Sahil watched a demonstration in which a scientist combined two substances in a sealed container and analyzed the results. The ending substances did not look the same as the starting substances.

Sahil was given a diagram with the repeating groups of atoms that make up the starting substances, plus information about the properties of the starting and ending substances. He created a model of the repeating groups of atoms that might make up the two ending substances.

Does his model correctly show why the properties of the ending substances are different from the properties of the starting substances? Describe what could be correct or incorrect about his model.

Mass is the amount of matter in an object.  weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.  say for example, you travel to the moon which has a different gravitational field compared to the gravitational field of earth. (gravitational fields: earth = 1, moon = 0.165)  now when you are on the moon, the pull of gravity on you is different than on the earth. and as weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object, that means yes, your weight can and will change on the moon.  however, on the moon, on earth or even on jupiter, the amount of mass inside of you remains the same. meaning your physical mass remains constant.  in conclusion it is possible for your weight to change as your mass remains constant. 

Ch4 and ph3 are both covalent since they are composed both of non-metals.    ch4 is non- polar because of  london forces and has a geometry of tetrahedral  ph3 , on the other hand, is umbrella shaped polar and has dipole-dipole intermolecular force (imf) . since ph3 is polar, it has a stronger imf
