Fertilization: the action or process of fertilizing an egg, female animal, or plant, involving the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote.

Gamete: a mature haploid male or female germ cell that is able to unite with another of the opposite sex in sexual reproduction to form a zygote.

Gene:Basic unit of heredity; codes for a particular trait.

Heterozygous: Having different codes for a particular trait. Refers to a specific genotype.

Homozygous: Having the same codes for particular trait.

Trait: a distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person.

Since a female is both xx chromosome and the male passes down the x chromosome, than the offspring would be female since a female is xx.
