People with diabetes are at a higher risk of amputation than any other person with a chronic disease. A person with this disease is 15 times more likely to have an amputation than others. It is usually a lower limb on the body that risks amputation. Many people will lose a foot or even both feet,due to the disease. This happens because of nerve damage and poor circulation over having high blood sugar for prolonged periods of time.
