Is natural selction in favor of the big?

I guess nature always choose the ones with strong capacity to survive, but they could not be called "big". Dinosaurs are "big" but they did not survive, while rats are small but they are still living since ancient times.

It does necessarily favor the big. It does however favor those with qualities that would lead to better survival. In other words, those that are better adapted will survive and live on to pass on their genes.
