The painting shows movement in the opening of the heavens, dramatic light, and energy from the bright colors, fluidity in the work, and theatricality from the dramatic scene, that is distinctive to the Baroque period. This painting also utilizes naturalistic illusionism (by creating a scene that looks like the heavens are opening up) which is able to engage the viewer.

The techniques of utilizing movement and dramatic light in this painting were able to bring this beautiful church ceiling to life. With the use of light colors and heavenly tone, it is able to create a scene that simulates the heavens opening up in the church's ceiling. Christ is symbolized in his work in the center, rising to the heavens. The raw beauty and detail in this painting are exquisite, and the word to describe it would be ethereal. The work feels holy and sacred, and emersed in light and engaging, which can be characteristic of many Baroque works of art.
