A germ is a microorganism that may cause diseases.

There are four types of germ.

1) bacteria - single celled creatures that are present everywhere.Good bacteria help in food digestion. Bad bacteria cause sickness and infection.

2) viruses - must live in a living host to survive. they reproduce and spread throughout the body of the host and cause sickness like chickenpox, flue, and measles, to name a few.

3) fungi - multi-celled plant-like organism that live in damp, warm places. Athelete's foot is caused by fungi.

4) protozoa - one-cell organism that loves moist places and often spread diseases through water. Some protozoa cause intestinal infection manifested by diarrhea, nausea, and belly pain.
