After working for two months on a presentation about a new product line he hoped to develop, Max was excited to present his ideas and hear the responses of his
supervisor and the president of the company. He was eager to answer their questions with impressive additional information and examples. He knew that the product li
would quickly pay for any costs associated with it, and it would begin making a profit after six months of sales, but he planned to save this information to reveal during
follow-up questions. After his hour-long presentation, Max expected questions, praise, and excitement, but he received only the following feedback.
Supervisor: Thanks for your time, Max. Creative, but impractical.
President: Looks expensive, Mike, er, Max. Gotta watch the bottom line. Well, back to work.
Max feels undervalued and frustrated that his work was given so little thought or consideration, and he is angry with himself for not presenting the important financial
information within his presentation. His employers left the presentations questioning why Max would have wasted time and effort on such a costly suggestion. Is this an
example of misinformation, misinterpretation, or other factors? Explain why this presentation failed to create a collaborative result for Max and his company, citing
examples from the scenario in your analysis.
