Technology helps all of us in our daily lives. Deaf people value meeting in person over conversing through technology and if using technology, they much prefer to use video relay services so they can converse in their most natural language—ASL. My preference on conversing in person or over the phone depends on the person and situation. However, I find there is more room for difficulties speaking over the phone dude to technology barriers (i.e. bad service, microphones/device, etc.). I can only imagine how much more difficult the issue of lagging is for the Deaf, communicating via ASL. Thus, I can understand why the Deaf prefer to communicate in person, because there is no risk of technical difficulties face-to-face.
