Why is it there are so many fake people in the world?

Because everyone is afraid to be rejected for who they really are.  So they would rather put on a mask to be liked, because it is safer than being told that who they really are isn't good enough.

Doulingo is good. you can also watch movies that are in french, i am using this tactic  for japanese  and it a lot. listing to music with  french  lyrics would work well too because  you could absorb  the words while having fun.hope this ! : )
