greg and anna work together. they're good friends and talk a lot. but anna doesn't feel comfortable telling greg about her problems with her boyfriend. she's frustrated that he keeps asking her about them.

The theory of Relational dialectics was first introduced to the public by  Leslie A. Baxter and Barbara M. Montgomery some 30 years ago. This study treats very close relationships and conflicts that appear as a consequence of our differences.

Three basic oppositions of this theory are:

1. Autonomy-Connection

2. Openness-Closeness

3. Novelty-Predictability

The need to be open and honest with your partner is a part of every relationship. We tend to share our experiences, beliefs, feelings, etc. However, sometimes we prefer to keep some things for ourselves. There are numerous reasons for that and others should respect that decision.

This is what happened in our case. Although Anna and Greg have a close connection and share many things, she decided to keep her intimate things for herself. The tension is provoked by Greg's lack of understanding.
