In Ancient Athens slaves had almost the same rights as the Athenian citizens. The main difference was that citizens had the right to get involved in politics while the slaves not.  

Even though, the slaves were the lowest class in Athens society is was very difficult to tell them apart form the citizens, due that some of them were able to work as tutors, police officers and those who were domestic slaves were even considered as a part of the families where they belong.
