Why was it difficult for emily to meet and date suitable men in her youth?

The question is being based from the story of William Faulkner that is entitled the “A Rose for Emily”, the reason as to why it is difficult for Emily to meet and date suitable men for her youth was because of the reason that Emily’s father droves her suitors away and that his father was likely to be more eccentric.
