There are other types of sensorimotor stages and this include reflex, primary circular reaction, secondary circular reaction, coordination of reactions, early representational thought.

For example, a child will pick up an object and put it in his or her mouth intentionally. Coordination of reactions (age 8-12months): During this stage, children begin to demonstrate deliberate actions and to get a desired effect, a child combine schemas. Early Representational thought (age 18-24 months):  At this sub-stage, children begin to use mental operations to understand the world instead of through actions.
