Originalism. Originalism is the philosophy/perspective that the Constitution is stable in its meaning and interpretation and should not diverge from what the framers of the Constitution laid out in its creation. Most originalists adhere to the "original meaning" doctrine, which advocates that the Constitution must be interpreted in the cultural and political contexts that were present when the document was created; that is to say that modern moral and philosophical leanings should not factor into how issues are addressed by the Constitution as it stands.
