Psychoanalysis and client centered therapy allow us to gain insight and knowledge about the cause of the patient’s maladaptive behaviors but one of the potential problems here can be that that insight maybe won’t necessarily lead to healthier behavior. That’s why behavior therapy helps patients learn, acquire and develop more adaptive behaviors instead of those maladaptive ones  which are being unlearned.
