The concept of Deviance and Crime. A very important thing to keep in mind is that deviance and crime are not one and the same – a deviant act is simply violating the expectations of a group but homicide is not only a crime, but a deviant act as well. Please think of a deviant act – criminal or not, present the following:

Begin by briefly describing the deviant act of your choice.
Describe how one or two of the sociological perspectives presented on deviance would explain the deviant act itself. Start by explaining what the sociological perspective is and state the main principles it contains in your own words.
Think of your own deviant act to examine.
You only have to choose one sociological perspective but you are welcome to examine the deviant act through more than one perspective.
