1. Information being passed from one person to another? That is, does communication involve information transmission? 2. One mind affecting another? That is, is it only communication if one person’s mind affects another’s? 3. Transmission of information, ideas, emotions & skills via symbols Does communication necessarily involve symbols? 4. Transmission of a message from a source to a receiver with conscious intent to affect the latter’s behavior Does it only count as communication if it’s intentional?
