For this Psychology Field Journal, you will demonstrate your understanding of the components of classical conditioning by labeling two classical conditioning scenarios and reflecting on examples of classical conditioning in everyday life.
Choose two of the following scenarios. Label the unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, neutral/conditioned stimulus and conditioned response in both of the chosen scenarios. Use the template to guide you.
1 An ice cream truck frequently stops in Jamal's neighborhood during the summer months. Jamal loves ice cream! Just the thought of it makes him crave a nice, cold ice cream cone. Now, every time Jamal hears the song from the ice cream truck, his mouth starts watering.
2Sally's little brother has been torturing her with his green foam ball. Every time he sees her lately, he throws the ball right at her. Now, Sally flinches just at the sight of the green ball.
3Sophia usually loves bananas, but last week she got really sick and vomited right after eating one. Now, just the sight or smell of a banana makes her nauseous
4Marvin has major anxiety about tests. Every time his math teacher wears a Hawaiian shirt, he gives a pop quiz! Now, just the sight of a Hawaiian shirt makes Marvin anxious.
Reflect on what you've learned about classical conditioning and the examples you encountered in the lesson. In one paragraph, describe at least one example of classical conditioning you have experienced or witnessed in everyday life (ex. training a pet, food dislikes due to illness, conditioned fears, etc.).

Recall that in one condition of the experiment conducted by stasser and titus (1985) about student council president candidates, all group members had access to the same information, and that in another condition, members had unique information that other group members didn't know. in the second (unshared information) condition, the group made a worse decision than in the first (shared information) condition. this occurred because groups seldom can agree on who is most expert. focus discussion on the information that all members know. often ignore dissenting opinions. avoid differences of opinion, given conformity pressures.
