In order to explain the sources of power abuse, corruption and destructive leadership we need to remember that with leadership comes power, leaderships is also a responsability, and they cannot be separated from eachother, the reasons for corruption and destructive leadership could be because the leader has an inflated view of himself, where he is "allmighty" and can do it all, this can make him a bad example for whoeves is at his charge and make him authoritative, if he is arrogant and controling he can also create problems, a rigind and inflexible leader will not allow people to grow, and will create a destructive kind of leadership, this arrogant leader will have no problem bending the rules and this creates corruption. You can prevent all of this by doing power checks on you leader gicing someone else the power to contradict him and to control him, or choosing someone humble, with no arrogancy nor inflated view of himself.
