I believe it is B because every settlement wanted to be near fertile land and I doubt being coldest, driest, and windiest continent is not the type of weather where you want to settle

The animals include penguins, seals, nematodes, tardigrades and mites. Plant life includes some grass and shrubs, algae, lichen, fungi, and bacteria.
