Why should a thesis statement be significant, debatable, and limited?

A thesis statement should be significant because it states the main point of the whole essay. Although, it should also be short because you want to be able to elaborate in later paragraphs. It should be debatable because you want your audience to be intrigued and what to continue reading to find out why you made the argument you're making.
