I sent this to my administrators through an anonymous survey today. Check it out. They asked what I thought would make our school better. So I said it. There should be a GSA at every high school in general. For students that don't have supportive homes or are afraid to come out. It would really help student morale and this sense of security a GSA would bring could lower the sui. cide rate in Alabama. Maybe not exponentially but any drop in the numbers of suic. ides is better than a rise. Students shouldn't have to be afraid of bullying or harassment for who they are which is why I also suggest the addition of one stall gender neutral bathrooms for transgender and non-binary students. Of course students granted permission would need a key given to them by a teacher, etc to get in like teachers do so any adult would be rest assured that the student wouldn't have a partner joining them. It would really help. In my own opinion as a transgender male, I don't feel comfortable using the females bathroom given that I am a male and I am attracted to females. This should worry adults. But I also don't feel comfortable in male's bathroom, because I am very small, and wouldn't be able to fight off someone who might decide to harass me. I'm not saying it has happened but the fact that it's a possibility should be enough. Please consider what I've said. We don't need special treatment, but the success and comfort of your students in one thing teachers say is important. If that is true than the things I've mentioned have to be taken into consideration. I'm not saying you have to but please look into it, even if you decide that they are unnecessary. I know most of you believe being trans is a choice but it's not. Thank you for your time and consideration.

On the doctoral journey, you will need to adjust your thinking and perspective. it is inevitable that your world view will be challenged. how you respond to those instances of challenging remains in your control. this may sound daunting and even seem to be unacceptable, but it is the inexorable result of engaging in "deep thinking" while becoming an academic. remember, you are not just becoming a researcher, but you are also becoming a learned person (an academic) who will be charged with the responsibility of acting as a gatekeeper of knowledge and knowledge development. what distinguishes an infant academic from a mature academic? explain. how does the above biblical challenge to move toward mature thinking parallel the increased responsibility for knowledge and knowledge development that comes with the earning of a doctoral degree? explain.
