Apart from this show, several other popular shows- Orange is the New Black, Scandal, Pretty Little Liars, and more, have been cast and written in a way that includes people of various ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations. Considering the media’s role in our society, and the fact that as Americans, they take pride in being a conglomeration of cultures, this is a very important feature for viewers everywhere.
