Explanation:

Unlike any other courts who can only handle the cases  that occured only in their states' border, the supreme court can handle all cases that Occured nationwide.

Both civil and criminal cases can be handled by the Supreme court. But, the type of cases that they handle usually will resulted in legislations that will affect all the people nation-wide. (The cases that handled by smaller courts mostly only affected the plaintiff and the defendant)
