Fishing Licenses
Anyone over age 16 must have a license to fish. If you're fishing from a boat, your license must be with you. If you're fishing from shore, your license must be no more than 500 yards away.
Some landowners let people fish from their lakes or ponds. Private lakes are often stocked by their owners. You don't need a license to fish on them if you don't sell the fish you catch.

There are three kinds of licenses: five-day, ten-day or full season.

Replacement Fees
If you lose your season license, you must pay $5.00 to replace it. If you lose one of the other kinds of licenses, you must pay its full fee.

Possession Limits
Many lakes and streams are known for their great walleye and trout fishing. Before you fish, be aware of possession limits. The number and size of walleye and trout you can keep is limited by law. All limits are listed on the back of your license.
