How were Lewis and Clark not respectful toward the Native American?

in Lewis's speech he called the native Americans children, and said if they disobeyed the would gobble them up like the fires on the great plains.

Based on Lewis speech to the Oloe tribe hi did not respect the natives at all .He address them as children at least ten times in the short that he gave.He also  said that the natives disobeyed, they would consume you as the fire and consume the grass of the plains.
