Why do you think the right to vote is so important to the
black community?

The right to vote is extremely important to the black community because they weren't always considered equal to whites. In the past, blacks were used as slaves and treated poorly and even whipped or killed for the slightest mistakes. They had to ask permission to even get married or have children. They were owned, and no person should ever be owned because we aren't objects. Them being given the right to vote was one of the biggest ways to show that they were equal and that they were free.
