During the great awakening in  1730s and  1740s., many missionaries held a coordinated effort to convert people into Christianity. Jonathan Edwards was regarded by historians as the most important figure in this movement.

They sent missionaries into various towns in order to spread Christian gospels across the colonies in united states. During the first wave of this missionaries movement alone, they managed to convert around  20,000 - 50,000 into Christianity. (which is around 5% of the total population)
