A company in Colorado polluted a local city’s drinking water. The city is filing suit over the issue, and the company is trying to have the case tried in Nevada instead of Colorado, since it believes it has a better chance of winning there. Why can’t the case be tried in Nevada? The case is outside of Nevada’s jurisdiction. It violates the principle of stare decisis. It goes against popular sovereignty. The case is bound by English Common Law.
