After the death of King Solomon, David's son. Ten northern tribes of Isreal rejected Solomon's Son Rehoboam to be king and instead Choose Jeroboam to be king, there by forming the northern kingdom of Israel because Rehoboam, Solomon son dealt tactlessly with them. He failed to win ratification with the ten tribes because of his arrogance and did not grant them their request.

The people requested that about the forced labor and high taxes imposed by his late father, and asked him to lighten their burdens , he promised to give them the answer after 3 days and after that he rejected their request and make it more harder for them. It is found in 1 Kings 12-16.
