This is as a result inadequate road network, and an extensive expressway network in addition with substantial private car usage. To solve this problem, the city has since turned to public transport. There are about five rapid transit lines which are currently in operation. Additional systems are under construction and are planned by the national government and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. This had led the city to properly manage the transportation of the city.
