When Catalina decided to break up with Previn, she asked him to meet her at a coffeeshop in between their homes. She explained to him why she felt the relationship wasn't working, and allowed Previn to respond even though it was difficult for her to listen. In an attempt to end the discussion on a lighter note, Catalina suggested that they remain friends. What could Catalina have done to make the break up more effective

In simple words, all the actions done by Catalina were appropriate as per the situation but she could have done some things much better. First of all shoe should not have chosen a coffee shop or other such public place as such a situation could become loud in no time.

Also , she should not have proposed for the friendship and should have demanded for some distance for a certain period of time so that her ex boyfriend could also get some time to thing of himself.
