Chapter 13 starts as the dwarf and the White Witch are traveling to the Stone Table with Edmund as their prisoner. Suddenly, a wolf comes to tell them that he has been to the Stone Table and seen Aslan with Peter, Susan, Lucy, and the Beavers. The White Witch summons the evil creatures to prepare for battle. The Witch's servants torture, humiliate and mock Aslan, yet Aslan's patience endures. The chapter concludes with hopelessness and sadness. The death of Aslan seems final. Once Aslan is dead, there will be no one to stop the Witch from attaining power and committing atrocities. the Witch calls for her creatures to finish the war, and they run off with intent to kill the rest of Aslan's army. Susan and Lucy go to Aslan in tears. They spend all night at his side, trying to clean him up and honor him.
