In the US, the deregulation of airlines and the attacks of Sept 11, 2001, created many problems for the airline industry. Some people have
called for a greater role for government in regulating the airline industry. An extreme position would be that the federal government should
run the airlines. Using the concepts of shared consumption and non-exclusion, explain whether the airline industry is best though of as a
private service, a public service or both?
