Maladaptive attitudes are usually result of misconception or inadequate research or perception.

In the scenario above, Zuma perceives that making sacrifices will make him a perfect person, including sacrificing food, this exemplifies a Maladaptive behavior and misconception has refusal to eat will definitely cause him more harm than the perfection he seeks.
