I am in the Alternative Evaluation step of my purchasing decision. I am evaluating brands that I'm aware of, and have eliminated those that I consider unacceptable, and am choosing between brands that are acceptable and those that I'm aware of but not necessarily sure are acceptable yet. The brands that fall into this last category (of not being deemed acceptable yet) are known as the:

In business, Inert set refers to a brand which is known  by the customers, but doesn't become customers' first option to buy. That being said, Brands that considered as inert set for the customers tend to be varied depending on their preference.

Typically , iner set is regarded as a 'Substitute' and only bought by the customers if somehow their preferred brand is out of stock or they do not have enough money to buy preferred stock.
