Why is it necessary to have laws protecting workers? What would happen if all labor laws, discrimination laws, and sexual harassment laws did not exist?

!ANSWER- 100% on Edgen!
Employment laws were put in place to protect workers from wrongdoing by their employers. Without those statutes, workers would be vulnerable to a number of threats. The key employment laws include discrimination, minimum wage, and workplace safety and health laws, as well as workers' compensation and child labor laws.
If we didn't have any labor laws, discrimination laws, and sexual harassment laws then the work force wouldn't be able to run. Or at least it wouldn't run as smoothly as it does now. There would be much more conflict, racism, sexism, etc and would make a workplace extremely uncomfortable and non-workable.
