Ascribed status is the assigned status of a person in a society from the time of birth or in later life.It can be given on the basis of race, religion, color etc. and it becomes difficult for a person to change it.

Caste system is defined as the system that divides the group of people into different categories according to their social status and structure.Ascribed status is the major factor which helps in dividing the categories according to social class, ethics, religion etc.
