Carlos baena, considered a top pixar animator, wanted to make sure he had done his research before animating. after the layout team gives him the shot, he does three things before starting:
a) filmed reference of himself with any necessary props.
b) searched for outside live acting reference for inspiration
c) created thumbnail drawings of the character's poses.
