The Day of the Dead is a traditional mexican celebration that takes place on november 2nd and it honours the dead member's of family and friends that have passed away.

This day is full of significance for Mexican people and it's full of traditions.

One of these traditions is the play of Don Juan Tenorio.

In 1844, Jose Zorrilla wrote this play and since 1848, this play is part of the Day of the Dead festivities in Mexico.

The plot starts one night in a tavern where Don Juan and Don Luis, two friends, compare their evil deeds that they committed over a year, being the winner Don Juan (The term Don Juan refers to a casanova).

Don Luis challenges Don Juan to conquer the love of an engaged woman and a novice. Don Juan accepts the challenge; not only that, but he says that it will be Don Luis' fiancee the one who he will be conquer (Doña Inés)

Along the play, Don Juan actually falls in love with Doña Inés. In one scene, after a discussion Don Juan kills Don Luis and Doña Inés' father and escapes. After five years he comes back and finds out that Doña Inés died of sadness.

Along all this play, supernatural events happen and that is why this particular play is characteristic of Day of the Dead.
